The Wellness Plan to Open Primary Care Clinic for Students and Families at KEYS Grace Academy in Madison Heights

DETROIT – March 14, 2018 – The Wellness Plan Medical Centers (TWP) announced it will open a primary care clinic within KEYS Grace Academy in Madison Heights by June, its sixth clinic in metro Detroit. The Academy, authorized by Madison District Public Schools, is located at 27321 Hampden St. in Madison Heights.

“The Wellness Plan Medical Centers is committed to increasing health care access for those who have traditionally faced barriers to quality services,” said TWP CEO Anthony King. “The opening of the KEYS Grace Clinic allows us to build upon critical health care access to children and families in Oakland County.”

KEYS Grace Academy is home to approximately 450 kindergarten through eighth grade students. The clinic will serve students and their families, offering primary health care, and will enhance the current behavioral health care, occupational therapy, physical therapy and twice-yearly mobile dental service offerings. In addition to primary and preventative care, TWP’s presence will offer pharmacy services, outreach and enrollment services, access to TWP’s three state of the art dental clinics, and referrals to other specialty services as needed.

“We are excited to have the Wellness Plan join our program to promote a healthy school environment, while providing direct health services to students and their families, who otherwise might face challenges with getting these services,” said Vice Principal Dr. Zena Najor of KEYS Grace Academy. “Having a direct provider for these services will ultimately help in our mission to serve families with an array of programs.”

The KEYS Grace Clinic will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. during the school year, as well as three weeks during the Academy’s academic enrichment camps. The clinic will be staffed by a bilingual family nurse practitioner and a medical assistant. Signage, applications and forms will be translated to enable families from diverse backgrounds to understand and access services.

TWP is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) with a mission to deliver affordable and accessible health services to the community, increase access to services for individuals with or without insurance, and provide user-friendly, culturally competent medical solutions.
