DETROIT – November 17, 2017 – The Wellness Plan Medical Centers (TWP) announced the completion of a 2,500-square-foot renovation at its East Area Medical Center in Detroit, nearly tripling the patient capacity of the location’s full-service dental suite.

TWP expects the newly renovated dental suite will serve approximately 4,000 unique patients annually, the majority of whom are uninsured or underinsured women and children. The eight-chair suite features modern technology, including electronic dental records (EDR), digital x-ray image capture, digital sensors, and state-of-the-art dental devices. Services offered include dental examinations, cleanings, fillings, extraction, root canals, sealants, dentures and more.

“TWP has been committed to the wellbeing of our community for decades, and we’re proud to offer an affordable and convenient dental option to those who need it most,” said TWP CEO Anthony King. “The expansion of the East Area Medical Center dental suite is another step forward in reaching as many people as we can and providing access to quality health services in an area that, for far too long, has been a dental health desert for the underinsured population.”

The expansion was fully funded through the Health Resources and Services Administration’s (HRSA) Health Infrastructure Investment Program. The program supports existing Health Center Program grantees’ efforts to increase patient capacity and provide additional comprehensive primary and preventive health services to medically underserved populations through facility renovation, expansion, or construction.

East Area Medical Center is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Patients can schedule an appointment by calling 313-369-3935. To learn more, visit
